I suddenly remembered my chat with the GoCar driver while going home to Balikpapan a few months ago. Online taxi driver who took me from the West Balikpapan area to the airport.

"What is your mother's sect of Islam?"
I smile. A question to the point typical of Balikpapan people who don't like small talk, like me.
"Don't be angry, ma'am. So the story is, I have a teenager, grade 2 MTS, a boy. He always prays at the mosque. Even at dawn it is a must. One day he overslept, and didn't go to the mosque. All day he sulked. I also rarely I see him hanging out with his friends, just stay at home on weekends. Mostly watch TV or listen to the radio. I'm worried," Mr. Driver continued his story.
"Where's the problem, sir?"
"I'm afraid he's joining a cult like the news on TV, na.."
Ah! Got the points. The point is that the media in this country has succeeded in destroying the image that 'children of the mosque' are identical with the target of radical Islam.

One of my cousins, who is in the best public high school in Jombang, had the same complaint. His mother was interviewed by the homeroom teacher about my cousin's unusual cingkrang pants. Also regarding his refusal and critical attitude towards school activities which he considers not in accordance with the sunnah.
Everything was conveyed by the homeroom teacher about how 'different' my ABG cousins are from other teenagers who are slang and contemporary like alay teenagers.

The incident in Surabaya tickled my anger. How can the study of the sunnah be even more frightening when other events that have the smell of immorality are running around in various baleho in Surabaya. Sexy dancers in various nightclubs, discussions of pluralism that are very close to Communism, outbound events wrapped in the Anti-Aids and Drugs campaign that so clearly supports LGBT, and others.
In fact, the organization is calm. Disobedience feels more acceptable than the study of da'wah which actually discusses more about moral issues.
How the world is getting older, Islam is becoming more and more challenging. Bite firmly with the molars. Hold on tight, even though the heat is like holding on to hot coals. Let's just be strangers. Because there is always GOD.
