Mullah Akhundzada : US War Convicted With Defeat

ISL4M.COM, TANJUNG ENIM - Recently the Islamic Emirate (Taliban) released a public statement by their leader, Maulawi or Mullah Hibatullah Akhundzada who spoke at a moment in Eid al-Fitr. Akhundzada said that the legitimate jihad and resistance carried out by the Taliban against the invaders was approaching the victory phase. The US-led war effort which he described as "armed arrogant power" was punished with defeat by a holy jihad to defend the Taliban Mujahideen. The result, according to Mullah Akhundzada, is that the Islamic Emirate of the Taliban is now able to control and take all initiatives in both the military and political fields. In recent months, the US and the Afghan government have urged the imposition of a ceasefire, but by the Taliban leaders the request was not responded directly. Indeed, the mujahideen elite did not seem to be ordering their troops to lay down their weapons.

"No one hopes that we will pour cold water on the Jihad battlefield that has heated up, or forget about our sacrifices for forty years before we reach our goal," Akhundzada said in public in the Afghan people. This Akhundzada message was indeed conveyed internally within the nation & the Afghan people. But in substance, as the Taliban told the fighters and their supporters that the victory was near.

This Mullah Akhundzada message was released in several language versions, namely Pashto, Dari, Arabic, Urdu, and English to reach a wider public audience. Akhundzada also regularly publicized the victory of the Islamic Emirate in various Taliban Jihad military operations when the world's largest jihadist insurgency was on the wind in the process of direct negotiations with the US to end foreign occupation in Afghanistan.

Simultaneously, the Taliban's efforts in the military and political fields carried out in parallel were intended to end colonialism and uphold the Islamic system. As a further statement by Akhundzada, "The steps taken by the Islamic Emirate in the military and political fields are part of an integral policy & order so that in practice they can support each other."

In this Akhundzada message no part of the speech said the Taliban would provide guarantees of counterterrorism efforts as said by US Special Envoy Zalmay Khalilzad who claimed that the Taliban political bureau office offered it.

There are a number of Akhundzada statements which are considered ambiguous by Western media. Among other things, Akhundzada claims that the Islamic Emirate does not want to monopolize power as he and other Taliban fighters believe that all elements of the Afghan nation must be represented in the government. In addition, "the Islamic Emirate wants to form a sovereign government, uphold the supremacy of Islam, and be inclusive that can be accepted by all Afghans in the country they love."

However, Akhundzada clearly sees the concept of government in question as the Islamic Emirate as it once existed in the era of Taliban rule. This is where differences in definitions & perspectives occur between the Taliban and Western media. Akhundzada calls the phrase "Islamic Emirate" 19 times in his statement, and he holds 2 predicates, namely as the Leader of the Islamic Emirate and Amirul Mukminin which is commonly used in the era of the Caliphate.

The Taliban leader also stated that the rights of all men and women must be given to them, certainly in the corridor of the Islamic government system. The Taliban have fought and fought with patience and high determination in order to want to uphold the Shari'a or Islamic Law, and so far they have also formed a shadow government. Akhundzada said, "The entire territory of the Mujahideen governing body had become a big test for the Mujahideen themselves. Do you succeed or fail to serve the community and uphold justice as your claims & slogans? "

Akhundzada briefly alluded to internal Afghan dialogue as a way to resolve internal Afghan problems after the end of foreign occupation. But the Western media still cannot accept this because in several rounds of Taliban-US direct negotiations, the Taliban rejected the involvement of the Afghan government.

In other parts, Akhundzada called on all members of the military forces & Afghan security forces to repent. He said, "There is no reason that can justify your hostility towards your own nation's mujahidin at the behest of invaders who are very hostile towards our religion and our country."

We assume that the statement of Mullah Akhundzada was truly like that, or at least approved by the Akhundzada, then means the Taliban leader has imposed sanctions on a number of diplomatic efforts. Negotiations with the US focused on efforts to end foreign occupation as the Akhundzada calls for. On the other hand, direct Taliban-US dialogue that negates the Afghan government has tense Washington's relations with the puppet government of Kabul.

Nevertheless, the Taliban also used other diplomatic initiatives to build the legitimacy of the Islamic Emirate. Akhundzada said the efforts were managed to reach the Afghan consensus for neighboring countries and the region.

From this, it can be understood that Akhundzada saw foreign diplomacy as one of the ways of the Islamic Emirate to delegitimize the Afghan government. After rejecting the involvement of government mediators in the negotiation process, the Taliban leader accused the Kabul government of trying to sabotage the dialogue between the Islamic Emirate and non-government Afghan political figures. That's where Akhundzada then pushed for internal Afghan dialogue by excluding the Kabul army and government as a major local force that blocked the Taliban's path to power.
