There was a young man who came to Imam Ibrahim bin Adham rahimahullah complaining about his condition. He fell into immorality and very many sins. "I want to repent, but I can't," he said.
The immoral expert asked for advice from the priest so that he could leave these sins.
Imam Ibrahim bin Adham rahimahullah gave advice to him, "O my son, if you want to commit to God, please accuse. But after you do these 5 cases.
5 things if you have done it then act as you like.
The young man looked happy. Yes, an Imam gave him a free answer to mockery after doing 5 things.
"Tell me O Imam, For God's sake, I will do it. Immediately tell me," he pleaded.
Imam Ibrahim bin Adham said: First, if you want to pretend to Allah za Azza wa Jalla, you do not eat from His rizki.
The young man replied: where did I eat while everything on earth was blessed from Him?
The Imam said: O young man, what do you deserve to commit to Him while you eat from His rizki.
The young man replied: O priest.
The young man told him the second.
The priest said: If you want to remain faithful to Allah, do not stay in his earth.
The man answered: this is heavier than the first, if east and west and what is between the two belongs to God then where will I stay?
Imam said: O young man, do you deserve that you still eat from his diet and stay in his earth then you are committing to Him?
The young man replied: O priest. Tell me the third one.
The Imam said: If you want to remain intimate with Allah while you live from His rizki, and stay on His earth, look for a place of worship that is not seen by God, then please act there.
The young man answered: O Abraham, how is this, does He see what is hidden?
The Imam answered: O young man, what is it that you deserve to commit to Him while you eat from His rizki, stay on His earth, and He always sees you and sees your actions.
The young man answered: no, O priest. Tell me the fourth one.
The priest said: when you come to you the angel of death to take away your life, tell him, "postpone it first so that I repent sincerely and do good deeds for sincerity for Allah."
The young man replied: My request will not be accepted.
The Imam said: O young man, if you are unable to refuse your death to repent and you know that if death comes, it will not be delayed if you continue to engage in mockery?
The young man asked for the fifth condition.
The Imam said: if you come to you the guardian angel of hell (al-Zabaniyah) on the Day of Judgment to bring you to hell, then don't go with them.
The young man replied: they will still take me and will not leave me.
The Imam said: then how do you hope to survive with immorality.
The young man said: O Imam Ibrahim, enough, enough. I ask Allah for forgiveness and repent to Him.
Finally the young man became a servant who diligently worshiped so that death separated the two. Wallahu Allam.
