The Chairman of the Halal Product Guarantee Agency (BPJPH), Prof. Sukoso, said that the number that almost touched 100 percent encouraged cooperation with the Indonesian Ministry of Health (Kemenkes). The aim, of course is that the people who are Muslim can get halal certainty in consuming drugs.
"Yes, a lot of it. The drug is almost 98 percent untouched. That's why we collaborate with the Ministry of Health and BPOM (Drug and Food Control Agency) to organize it, "Sukoso said when contacted on Wednesday (26/6).
This cooperation needs to be carried out, because so far the one overseeing the circulation of food and medicine in Indonesia is BPOM. Especially for medicines that are still large in number, they have not been touched by legal certainty, BPJPH also invites the Indonesian Ministry of Health.
"We will provide policies for phasing, all departing in October 2019, but all must be gradual. For the new formal BPJPH later in October 2019. That is to carry out the law message, "Sukoso said.
Halal labeling which has been carried out by the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), according to him, has become a separate problem. Because, there is no legal basis that remains related to that.
Some are still not effective in its implementation. Therefore, with the existence of this law (UU JPH), it is hoped that it will further strengthen the legal basis.
"What is clear is that we are ready, preparing the device. Not only regulation but everything we are preparing. Then we also prepare the system to be effective and successful, "concluded Sukoso.
For information, the government had previously signed Government Regulation No. 31 of 2018 concerning Guaranteed Halal Products. This follows Law No. 33 of 2014 concerning Halal Product Guarantee (JPH). Under the law, all submissions for halal certification are addressed to BPJPH. Then it will be audited by the Halal Inspection Agency (LPH).
Towards the enactment of the Halal Product Guarantee (JPH) policy in October 2019, the Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) continues to communicate with a number of partners, such as MUI, BPOM, and the Indonesian Ministry of Health.
