Teach Monotheism To Children

ISL4M.COM, TANJUNG ENIM - The first obligation for parents to teach their children is the tauhid sentence, La Ilaha Illallah. This sentence is the foundation for Islam. With this sentence we live and in this sentence we will die. This sentence is miftahul jannah, the key to heaven.

Rasulullah Muhammad said:

"Teach the first sentence to your children La ilaha Illallah, and talqinkanlah when will die with the sentence La Ilaha Illallah." (HR. Al Hakim).

Even Luqman al Hakim has taught us how to educate our children. The first material taught is the issue of monotheism, do not do shirk to Allah. The cultivation of monotheism is emphasized before the imposition of other obligations.

Ibn Qayyim in the Ahkamul Maulud Book said "When they were able to speak, they were trained to recite the sentence La Ilaha Illallah Muhammad Rasulullah. The first thing that should come in their ears is the introduction of Allah SWT. Tawheed it that Allah is above the y Arsy, see and hear their words, and Allah is always with them wherever they are. "

Method of Embedding Tawhid

The tauhid sentence is not just a lafadz which is spoken solely on the lips. However, this sentence has meaning and consequences. One method of educating children is through stories.

Where in the stories there is wisdom, lessons can be taken. Through the story, an effective way to enter the values of monotheism, without children feeling patronized. In fact, they are usually involved in listening to the story.

Ibn Qayyim Al Jauziyah in the Kitab al Fawaid explains that the virtues of monotheism are a way of salvation for those who always fight for this monotheism. The story that can be conveyed to children is the story of Prophet Yunus and Pharaoh.

Prophet Yunus was sent by Allah SWT to preach in the city of Ninawa, a city located in Mausul, Iraq. Prophet Yunus always called on them to persuade Allah SWT. However, they refused and remained immersed in their disbelief.

So the prophet Jonah left them in an angry state, threatening them that in three more days a punishment from God would come.

The prophet Jonah left his people and boarded a boat with a people. Amid the sea, the boat was shaken, they were afraid of drowning. So they held a lottery among them to determine who would be thrown into the sea to ease the load of the boat.

Finally the lottery fell into the hands of Jonah, but they refused not to throw it. Then carried out another lottery, it turned out that the lottery fell to the hands of Prophet Yunus again.

They refused, then held another lottery. It turned out that the lottery fell into the hands of Jonah again. Until the final decision of Prophet Yunus must be thrown into the sea. Then he ate Zun Nun's fish, the Pope.

Prophet Yunus in the belly of the whale, he prayed to God (لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ). With this prayer Allah SWT saved him from the belly of the whale. Then he could go out and meet his people who had been looking for him. And they have repented to Allah SWT.

Allah SWT said:

فَاسْتَجَبْنَا لَهُ وَنَجَّيْنَاهُ مِنَ الْغَمِّ ۚ وَكَذَٰلِكَ نُنْجِي الْمُؤْمِنِينَ

"So We have allowed prayers and saved them from grief. And thus we save those who believe. "(Qs. Al Anbiya’: 88)

This is different from the story of Pharaoh. Pharaoh was a tyrannical king, cruel and much oppressive to the children of Israel. This pharaoh also hinders the preaching of Moses. Even though what Moses preached was tauhid.

But unlike the Pharaoh, he even claimed to be God. Then he told his men to make a tall tower to find the god of Moses. This is a form of pride and disobedience.

The climax was when the prophet Moses and the children of Israel left Egypt. They are chased by Pharaoh with their troops. When the Prophet Moses struck the Red Sea then split into two. Moses and the Israelites passed him so they survived.

However, Pharaoh and his army followed them. The red sea which split into a road was closed again. Finally Pharaoh and his army sank.

There is an interesting story in seconds of the death of Pharaoh. He said (آمَنْتُ أَنَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ َّإَِّ الَّذِي آمِنَتْ بِهِ بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ وَأَنَا مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ), I believe that there is no God but God whotrusted by the Children of Israel, and I am among those who surrender (to Allah). So Allah SWT answered the confession of the pharaoh. Through the words:

آلْآنَ وَقَدْ عَصَيْتَ قَبْلُ وَكُنْتَ مِنَ الْمُفْسِدِينَ

"Is it now (you just believe), even though you have been rebellious for a long time, and you are among those who do damage." 9Qs. Yunus: 91)

Wisdom of the Tawheed Sentence

The two stories above are used the same way, but the results are different. Prophet Moses prayed with the tauhid sentence then saved by Allah Almighty. Because during his lifetime he always fought for tauhid.

Meanwhile, Pharaoh, he said the sentence of tauhid. However, God did not accept it. Because during his lifetime Pharaoh was always hostile to the experts of monotheism. And when his life reached the throat, his repentance was not accepted by Allah.

From this story, it must be instilled in children. So that children love the tauhid sentence. The end of the life of Ahlu Tawheed is to get good and end will enter heaven. Whereas the end of the life of the enemy of Ahlu Tawheed is misery and the end will go to hell.
