Morocco Launches Energy Efficient Projects, Covering 15,000 Mosques

TIMES OF ISLAM, TANJUNG ENIM - Morocco will launch a project significantly to reduce electricity consumption in 15,000 mosques throughout Morocco. IINA in its report.

This project is planned to be completed in the next five years. This energy-saving project departs from a national strategy framework to reduce 40 percent of electricity consumption in all mosques in Morocco, with the creation of green spaces, based on studies from energy investment companies.

A study conducted by the ministry of waqf and Islamic relations [ministry of awqaf and Islam affairs], has revealed the possibility of reducing energy consumption in Moroccan mosques by 40 percent, through installing solar panels in mosques and replacing existing light bulbs with more energy efficient, besides using solar powered water heaters.

This project, will be launched soon, and it includes in the first phase a number of 100 mosques in 9 cities in the Moroccan region.
