The two countries signed 11 agreements and memorandums of understanding "to enhance cooperation between the two countries in the fields of economy, scientific and cultural, infrastructure, services, investment and housing.
"Among the agreements is the inauguration of two important ports north of Tartous and part of the port of Lattakia and laid foundation stones for power plants with a capacity of 540 megawatts ... and dozens of projects in the oil sector and in the fields of agricultural investment and oil reservoir development," Khamis explained .
Iran's Deputy President Ishaq Jahangiri, who arrived in Damascus on Monday afternoon, said his country was ready to stand in Syria at the next stage of rebuilding the Syrian economy and the fight against terrorism.
He explained, the presence of Iranian companies in Syria and cooperation with Syrian companies in the fields of industry, trade and other areas of mutual interest would be supported by the two governments.
The two countries also agreed to form a joint chamber of commerce and open a permanent exhibition of Iranian goods.
Jahangiri expressed hope that "economic relations between the two countries will quickly reach the level of political relations between the two sides."
Like Moscow, Tehran has provided political, economic and military support to Damascus since the conflict began. In 2011, he opened a $ 5.5 billion credit line, before sending military advisers and militia to support the Syrian army.
Syrian government companies have offered exclusive offers to Iranian companies, according to the "Syria Report" electronic bulletin.
In August 2018, the two countries signed a military cooperation agreement that gave Tehran support for the reconstruction of the Syrian army and defense industry during the visit of Iranian Defense Minister Amir Hatami to Syria.
